Well, here I am, sitting at the computer. I’ve been up since 4:30, getting ready to go to work if the phone rings. It is almost 6am, and I’m thinking that the phone probably isn’t going to be ringing this morning. If it doesn’t ring pretty soon, I’ll probably head back to bed and try to catch a couple more hours of sleep. That is one of the bad parts about subbing. Some days you just don’t know if you will be getting any work or not. They always tell me “you’ll always get work” but the fact is that there are some days that the phone just doesn’t ring. I’m assuming it is because they know that the last minute call-ins that they get on those days are too “last minute” for me to actually get to the bus in time to do the run. That’s one of the disadvantages of not sitting in the lounge there at “base” on stand-by – I am at least a half hour away from being there if they need me. So “last-minute” doesn’t work very well for me here. Oh well, I could use a nap!
