As my hubby’s mother continues to age and her health degenerates, I have been encouraging her to consider investing a small amount of her income to a life alert system. She lives alone, and she is disabled. She suffers from COPD and is on an oxygen tank full time. From time to time I’ve heard that she has fallen out of bed, or tripped on her oxygen tubing and fallen down.
I’ve tried to no avail to get her to install some extra safety devices in her house. She is a stubborn, independent woman. But I think that if my hubby tried to get his sister to assist in the campaign to get their mother a life alert system that she might listen to them and consider doing it. There is a great life alert on the market now that detects when the wearer falls down and sends out appropriate action. One of my biggest fears is that she will fall down and get hurt and no one will find her for several days. With a system that detects when she falls, that wouldn’t happen!
