One of the things my hubby wants to do is to have the chance to become a heavy equipment operator. Whenever we go past a site where there is construction going on where the big machines are dozing, lifting, rolling, etc he gets so excited! Makes me think of a young child going to the playground! He tells me that he used to do that kind of work when he was younger, but I don’t know why he doesn’t do it anymore. I guess maybe next time he tells me he used to do it I’ should ask him why he stopped!
My niece’s boyfriend is going to heavy equipment school; hoping to get a job running a bulldozer. He says he’s done it before, but he never went to school for it. He’s hoping that the schooling will help him to land a job. In this tight job market, I think that having the extra formal education can only help his chances of landing a good job. There is a lot of construction always going on around here; every major road that I drive to go to work or to a doctor’s appointment seems to have construction going on with flaggers controlling traffic, so I hope he’s right and lands a good job!
