A good night’s sleep

June 19th, 2009

I find it almost impossible to sleep when I am too hot.  I need a cool room.  If I am too hot, there just is no way that I can sleep.  I know it sounds really strange, but I can keep the house warm during the day but I turn the thermostat cooler when I go to bed.  This isn’t a problem during the winter (it saves on heating fuel costs!) but in the summer it can be a real problem.  It just does not cool down at night where I live, so opening a window does not cool the house down at all.  And I’m at the age where Night Sweats are the norm.  I hate Sweating at Night – I can’t sleep if my gown and sheets are wet!  And getting up and changing my nightgown and changing the sheets does not go over very well with my hubby!

So when I’m Sleeping Hot and sweating, I sometimes put a towel on the sheets when they are wet, but that really isn’t comfortable.  My sister told me that she found a product on the Internet called a bedfan that is a fairly new invention that blows cool air between the sheets of a bed to help the sleepers stay cool!  That sounds like a great invention, and I’m going to check it out!
