Teenagers and their egos

June 4th, 2009

One of the things that I notice as a school bus driver, is what the kids look like.  I really have been surprised to see how many attractive children there are “out there.”  I sometimes wonder if as a child I was “over critical” of my peer’s appearance.  When I was in school, it seemed as if at least half of my fellow students were struggling with acne problems.  I happened to be one of them.  I can remember my mother taking me to the doctor when I was about 13 or 14 to ask him for some kind of acne treatment.  Back then I think that the doctor should have referred me to a dermatologist, but he didn’t.

He insisted that the best acne solution was to wash my face with an anti-bacterial soap that is no longer on the market.  I often wonder why that soap isn’t on the market!  I really don’t know if that was the best acne product back then or not.  I suspect that if he had sent me to a dermatologist that I would have had better results!  I think that it’s great that teenagers in this generation have much better treatments available to them.  I’ve noticed very few of the teenagers on the buses that I drive seem to have serious acne problems.  I think that’s great; teenagers have enough ego troubles without having to worry about severe acne!
