Concerned about the summer

I was asked if I was willing to drive a school bus this summer for summer school, and I said that I would be willing to do that.  I was told that if they needed me that I’d be given my run assignment by last Wednesday.  They didn’t PROMISE me the job, but I got the impression that it was pretty much “in the bag.”  Well, it appears that I was wrong about that!

I’ve called dispatch Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday and only got the answering machine.  I let messages that I was calling to find out if I got a summer assignment and to please call me back.  Summer school starts on Monday!  Well, no one ever called me back, so I have to assume that means that I have no summer run.  That’s good news and bad news.  I’d love to have the summer off of work and relax and enjoy myself, stay up late at night to watch television and not worry about getting up early.  The bad news is that I won’t have the money I need to survive!  So now I’m concerned about finding a summer job really late in the game.  If they had told me weeks ago that I was not going to have a summer run I would have landed a summer job by now, and now the summer jobs are filled up!  I am not happy about that at all!
