Although I’m not very happy that I haven’t been given my own route for this school year, at least they are going to let me be on paid standby. That’s a mixed blessing. At least I’ll get paid something! And if I end up just sitting there without getting a run, then I’ll be getting paid for just sitting there and visiting with the other drivers that are on standby. Or I can bring my netbook with me and read my emails and browse the ‘net. I don’t mind doing that at all! On the other hand they usually give me a run that is so last minute that I don’t have time to even look at the map and figure out where it is that I need to go! So if it is a run that is going somewhere that I’ve never been before, I get very flustered and nervous about getting lost!
