Over the past couple of weeks I’ve been assigned some substitute runs where I am either an aide on a handicap bus, or the driver of one (where I have an aide.) In talking with (and listening to) the partner that I’ve been assigned to for that run, it is becoming quite clear to me that the people who are in charge of assigning these runs are not acting very nicely. In fact I think that there is some downright meanness going on. I think some people are being given runs that are not good matches for the employee, and is making the employee suffer some physical or emotional discomfort. These employees have asked to be reassigned and have been told that it can’t be done. And yet it is perfectly obvious to me that these people could simply be traded from one bus run to the other. It should not be a big deal at all. And yet, they are being denied. So I think that the goal of the administration is to make these people so miserable that they resign. And that really is a shame, because these people are good workers and love the kids and their jobs. And it is a shame because there is a shortage of these types of employees!
