My hubby and I decided that it is time for us to go ahead and get a new cat. Our old cat passed away a couple of months ago, and we really did not want to get another pet and go through the heart break of losing another one down the road, so we agreed that we would not get a new one until we saw evidence of mice in the house. Well, the Orkin man came by yesterday and told me that he found a couple of mouse nests in the basement so now is the time for us to be getting serious about our mouse control plans.

So I started browsing around the Internet, reading various websites like the Pets Aware Pet Shop and Pet Care website, trying to find information about what kind of cat would be the best one for our house. We wanted a cat that would be very friendly and be content to sit on a lap. We decided that a Manx cat would fit the bill and so the search began for a Manx. We don’t want to spend a fortune, and we would really prefer to adopt a cat from an animal shelter rather than buy one from a breeder. So I’ve called the local shelters and asked them to put me on a “looking to adopt” list for a Manx cat or kitten. I wonder how long we might have to wait.

With the market still in deep do do the good folks with excellent credit scores can really scoop up some sweet deals on houses and properties all across the country.

The Internet has become a very valuable tool to help people find the best mortgage rates as most of us know by now. The process of applying for a mortgage is a long and tricky one, I wish that I had had access to the Internet when I was shopping around, I would have known a lot more, knowledge is power and power = money and when it comes to a mortgage, no matter how low the interest rate, is a lot of money even if you have perfect credit scores to your advantage.

I appreciate the guest post, Jewel Rodgers

I recently found the coolest game. It is called ladder golf or blongo ball, and it is a great tail-gating game or game on the beach. It is very simple to make, but I found mine online. I used our Texas Satellite Star Internet to buy my own ladder golf set. I was exposed to the game several years ago by a good friend of mine. He had a group of people to his house for a party, and he took out his ladder golf set. The game is simply three PVC pipes lined up in a ladder. You toss two golf balls connected to a foot-long string at the ladder. Each of the three ladder rungs is worth a certain number of points, and the goal is to earn as many points as possible each round. Each round you get three tosses with the ropes. The game may not seem that exciting, but it really is a lot of fun. Last year some friends and I had a ladder golf tournament, and my wife and I took second place. I’m excited about taking my set to the beach this summer.

When the Christmas season comes around, one of the very first things to do after you buy the tree is to go look for Christmas lights and decorations. But when you leave your house to go shopping the most important thing you should do to protect your valuables is to set your Security Choice home alarm. This can keep burglars and intruders away as you enjoy your shopping.

I like to shop for Christmas lights and decorations with my wife and children. We hop into the car each year and will usually drive over to Target or Walmart. These two stores have the best selection and the lowest prices. Their customer service can also be first rate. The first thing we see are lavish lights and decorative displays that hang and hook around the Christmas trees. The lights are usually all lit up and the bulbs are extremely colorful. They come in red, blue, green, yellow, pink, turquoise, silver and white. The decorations we see and buy are green wreaths, red candy canes, and velvet Santa puppets. We always make sure to examine the boxes very carefully before we take a package of lights or decorations off the shelf and before we head to the check-out counter. If the box is broken or damaged, we quickly put it down and snap up a better looking box to ensure that the contents inside are in perfect condition.

Guest post written by Adam Nelson

This year was great for me financially. I can proudly say that after many years of hard work, things are at a peak at my law firm. My partners and I worked day and night to get things where they are, and we are now enjoying the fruits of our labor after a recent expansion. Being a lawyer can mean a lot of money, but it is always an incredibly heavy time commitment. Often times I wished that I had chosen another profession so that I could spend more time with my family. However, with the recent expansion, I’ve been able to hire more staff and spend less time at the office.

I’m now getting the opportunity to spend more time with my wife and kids. I also have some time to address the problems around our aging house. Now that I have a good amount of money saved up, I am going to invest in a home refurbishing. I went to the internet for more info and found some good options. I am going to hire professionals to help spruce this place up while I spend more time with the people in my life who really matter.

Guest post of the week by Deangelo Spencer

We packed up the kids and took them to the mall to meet Santa today. It actually wound up being a lot of fun, and all of the kids had a great time. The hardest part of course, was getting them loaded up to make the trip. As soon as everyone one had their snow clothes on, each kid decided that they needed to use the restroom. They didn’t make this decision all at once though, they did it one at a time, so that it took us almost an additional twenty minutes to get into the car.

Once that fiasco was all taken care of, we all piled into the car and started down the road. We were almost three blocks away when I realized I hadn’t locked the door. So, we headed back to the house. I ran inside, set the alarm from (here), and locked the door because you can never be too careful. At this point I realized I could no longer blame the kids for making us late!

I hopped back into the car, and away we went. The mall was very busy, but the kids didn’t mind. My oldest boy even saw his little girlfriend there, and she helped us to talk him into getting a picture with Santa. It was hilarious. All of the kids filed through and got their pictures taken, and even told Santa what they wanted for Christmas.

Guest written by our friend Hipolito Hickman

My cousin recently got married and it was a beautiful fall wedding. My cousin was marrying her high school sweetheart which made the wedding very romantic. The wedding was located in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. The setting couldn’t have been more beautiful. All of the leaves were bright in color and tops of the mountains were covered in snow.

The whole wedding went off without a hitch. It was a little stressful being so far away from home but I felt good knowing that I set my Besthomesecurity home security alarm before I left. The wedding went on into late in the evening. The bride and groom put a lot of work into their wedding and should be very proud of themselves. We all ate and danced the night away. The next day my cousin and her husband took the whole family on a glass bottom boat ride around beautiful Lake Tahoe Lake. It was a beautiful experience and a wedding that I will for-ever remember. I hope my wedding will be as beautiful as hers was.

Every year, our whole family gets together to go Christmas tree shopping at a tree farm that is located about 30 miles outside of town. It’s one of my favorite family traditions and is a great time for everyone to get outside in nature and spend time together.

We went this last weekend to pick out our tree because we wanted to have it ready for Thanksgiving. It’s already pretty cold here, so we bundled up the kids pretty well before heading out. We packed a few games for them to play in the car, set the Security Choice home security alarm, and then made our way to the tree farm.

Once we arrived, the owners greeted us with some warm apple cider. It was the perfect treat for such a chilly day! They gave us instructions on how we could select the tree and which ones we had to choose from before sending us on our way. They also gave us a few tips on choosing a good tree that would hold the style of ornaments we wanted to put up.

After about an hour of searching, we finally found the perfect tree! It was just the right shape and size. We decided it was the one and then got it strapped up to the car, so that we could go home and decorate right away.

Guest post written by Betsey Gable

We had talked about moving to a place with a warmer climate, like Florida, once both of us retired and I had always kind of thought that my husband was all talk even though I really wanted to do it. But we moved a couple of months ago and we’ve been having so much fun!

Now that we’re going to celebrate our first Hanukkah in our new home, I wanted to make some new decorations for it, including a new menorah. So I used our wireless internet service to try and find a how-to or tutorial of how to make a new menorah.

I thought that making a homemade menorah would be a nice way to kind of break in our new place and make it feel like home. Plus, I have all this free time in retirement to do fun things now that I’m really trying to take advantage of and I think that this would be one of the best ways to do that.

Thanksgiving is almost here! This is the week I used to anticipate all year. Well, I guess nothing’s really changed that much from this year, I just haven’t had time to really build up the anticipation since I’ve been working so much recently. Yeah, post-college life definitely is weird.

This year I think I’ll appreciate the holiday even more, though. I’ve been away from my family living in Seattle for work for about 5 months now, and it’s just going to feel so good to get back into the groove with them. I went to school in-state, so I’ve never been away from them for this long, which will make spending this holiday together better tenfold. I know my mom’s glad to have me back for a while, too, and not just because she practically re-did my room on www.HomeProImprovement.com. I think she’s just eager to cook me meals, go run menial errands with me and just do all the things we can’t do anymore since we’re so far away. I really am thankful for this holiday and this year, I think I appreciate what it’s all about even more than ever.
