Today is my hubby’s birthday! He turns the “double nickles” today – 55! I’m planning a small family gathering for him for dinner tonight, and cooking his favorite meal. I baked him a cake this morning, white cake with white frosting. I could have sworn he liked strawberry better, but he picked out the cake mix and frosting, so that’s what he’s getting! I can’t seem to find the box of birthday decorations, so I’m quite annoyed about that! I KNOW I have banners and tablecloths and balloons and candles but I can’t find them anywhere! Oh well, we will have to do without and have a good time just the same. I hope that everyone I invited shows up on time!
Hubby’s birthday
November 26th, 2011Saving My Marriage
November 19th, 2011Thanks for the post from Rashad Townsend
Gosh, I don’t really know what else to do to save my marriage. It’s harder to be a couple living together than I imagined it would be and I’m finding out things about my husband that I just didn’t know until we moved in together. I just can’t imagine a time when I’m going to be used to all his stubble in the sink and the way he snores at night…ugh! The worst thing is that he’s just really inconsiderate – I know that it comes from years of living alone and not having to share a space with anyone but hey, I’m his wife and I know there’s something he’s got to give to be a better partner. I asked him to go to SatelliteTVFamily.com to look into cable for the house the other day, for example, and he said he didn’t have time. Then he got all pouty a week later when we didn’t have the TV channel that carried the football game he wanted! We’ve both got a lot to learn.
Technologically challenged
November 17th, 2011Last summer I bought a digital voice recorder to record myself reading a script that I need to memorize. When not in use I was keeping it in my brief case. About a month ago I went to get it to use it and it was not where I always keep it. Well I have torn the house and briefcase and car apart looking for that durn thing and I cannot find it. I wonder if someone took it and neglected to tell me. I’ve asked everyone in the family if they have seen it, and the answer has been “no.”
So yesterday I broke down and bought a new one. This one cost about twice as much as the first one did; it has more bells and whistles. I don’t know how to use it yet; I am actually a little bit intimidated by it. Being technologically challenged is a sad thing to be in this day and age!
Pause and reflect
November 11th, 2011Whether we agree with the reasons behind a war or not, our military personnel deserve our thanks and respect for serving our country. I have several relatives that either are in the military, or were in the military and I am always grateful that they have been lucky enough to survive through the many conflicts that our military finds itself going through. It takes a special person to put his or her life on the line for the rest of us. Thank you veterans, from the bottom of my heart.
The emergency department was impressive
November 5th, 2011Yesterday morning my hubby woke me up early, (it was still dark out) telling me to drink my tea (he brought it to my bedside) and get dressed because he wanted to go to the emergency room. It took a moment to register, but as soon as it did I was pretty awake! So I quickly got up, chugged my tea, threw on some clothes and we were out the door pretty quickly. I didn’t rush around a whole lot though because I figured that if he was really worried that he would have had me call an ambulance. He just told me that he felt really bad.
It wasn’t until we were almost there that he told me that he was having chest pains and difficulty breathing. So at that point I started to drive a little bit faster, but below the “driving to endanger” speed; I certainly did not need to get pulled over and be given a ticket, and I had to drive through a couple of well-known speed traps. Thankfully the speed traps were not set up yet and we got to the hospital without any delays. And there was only one time when a deer ran out in front of the car.
When we got to the hospital, I pulled up in front of the doors and quickly walked into the ER where the receptionist looked up at me. I told her that I had a man in the car with chest pains and difficulty breathing, turned right around and went back out to the car. I helped my hubby get out of the car and we walked into the ER where there was a group of about four employees coming to the door with a wheelchair. They took right over and wheeled him straight into the trauma room. I only stayed behind long enough to tell the receptionist his name and birthdate, told her that he was already in the system, everything was current, and went back to the car to park it.
When I came back from parking the car, the receptionist told me to go straight into the room where he was. That was the fastest I’ve ever been allowed into the examination rooms. I have to say I was impressed.
