Sometimes I get so frustrated with my family that I wish that I lived alone. I don’t like having to keep asking my hubby and kids to help out. I wish they’d pitch in without being asked to help. And often times when they DO agree to help out, the performance is so sub-standard that I wonder why I even bother!

But then I think about dear old Ellie who lives down the road from us. She is in her 80′s and lives alone. The poor dear is desperately lonely, and terrified that something bad will happen to her. Several years ago she had a Home Security System installed that she has to deactivate whenever she is going to open her door. I often wonder if she is just paranoid from watching the news, or if something bad really did happen to her, or a member of her family to have her be so frightened. She has ADT stickers on all of her windows, to let potential thieves that her house has a Security System in it.

I’d hate to be living alone and paranoid for my safety. So I guess I’ll just have to keep encouraging my family and give lots of praise when they help out!

I was reading on the MSNBC news website today that a female school bus driver was caught with liquor on her bus with students on board! It is a major violation to have liquor on the bus at all, but to have it on board with students on board too! What was she thinking? According to the story, the driver has quit her job now, but I’m sure that if she hadn’t quit that she would have been fired. Better for her to quit, I imagine! That was a foolish risk that she took; it’s really too bad!

I got a phone call tonight from one of my fellow bus drivers – one that I’m very friendly with. She just wanted to chat, and I was happy to oblige. We talked for about an hour on the phone, filling each other in on what was going on in our lives. She told me that our boss had quit his job! I hadn’t heard that; I was shocked! I asked her why he had quit and she told him that it was because his boss had told him that he had to cut back on all of the driver’s paid hours, in order to trim the budget. Our boss refused to do that, and said he’d quit instead. So he quit! I don’t know who is going to replace him, or when, but I will miss the guy, he was really nice!
